Myka is a NAICOM-licensed insurance brokerage making real insurance — motor, health, gadget, travel, property — something Nigerians can buy and claim from a phone, in minutes, backed by partners like Leadway, AIICO, Tangerine and Reliance HMO.

I build both of its mobile products. The consumer app is bare React Native: quoting, policy purchase, claims with live status, on-device policy PDFs, and a camera-driven device-inspection flow for gadget cover. On the Expo partner app I build new verticals and handle the bug fixing and troubleshooting that keeps agents selling.

The parts I care most about are below the UI: the launch sequence runs on my own open-source Lottie splash module, releases ship over the air through CodePush, claim status streams in over sockets, and a Sanity CMS I built feeds content to both web and mobile.

Guided claim flows per incident type, real-time adjuster and payout status over sockets, and PDF policy documents generated on-device.

My own modules in production

The app launches through @rick427/react-native-lottie-splash — the same library published on npm — playing an animated Lottie splash with no white flash between native launch and first React render.

Ship without the store wait

Fastlane automates the release pipeline end to end; CodePush OTA, staged rollouts and in-app update prompts keep both apps current between store releases.
